Research from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine gives the old and the young reason to envy each other.

Scientists say that while older adults generally see a decline in thinking skills

well-being generally increases as we age. More specifically

scientists report that healthy older adults show higher mental well-being than younger adults

We wanted to better understand the interplay between cognition and mental health throughout aging

whether they are based on the activation of similar or different brain areas

The researchers sampled a total of 62 healthy young adults in their 20s and 54 healthy older adults over the age of 60.

The brain compensates for cognitive decline as it ages The results show that young adults experience much more anxiety

strong older people may be a pathway for older minds to compensate for more mentally difficult tasks.
